We Are a Family
Emanuel and Roxana were born in Romania, grew up in Romania, lived and studied in Romania.
While they were dating, Emanuel moved to Roxana’s hometown, Calarasi, to work with an organization called Outstretched Hands of Romania, which served underprivileged children and people living in poor areas. Working there completely changed Emanuel’s perspective on life, and the kids he worked with became like family to him. Roxana had been working with them for many years previously and become family to them.
Right after getting married, they had the opportunity to study in the US, and they took that opportunity. While being in Texas, and taking classes like Entrepreneurship and Economics, meeting people from all around the world, all with a hunger to serve and make the world a better place, they started thinking about ways to help people in their home country, especially the children they worked with, in a sustainable way.
After 4 years in the US, they decided to move back home and create a bridge between the kids we knew needed help, and people willing to help, so they started Healthy Smiles Romania.
The kids Emanuel and Roxana are serving, are the same kids they worked with for years in the past. They know them, and they really want to see these children prosper, in every area of their lives.
The HSR team consists of Roxana and Emanuel, a couple of friends from Dallas, and a few friends in Romania, but the door is open for anyone from anywhere to join us by donating, or even visiting us.
